Blind Sports NSW receives 22-seater Variety Sunshine Coach!

On 31st August 2019, Blind Sports NSW members voted in favour of purchasing a 22-seater bus through the Variety Sunshine Coach program, following the proposed motion from our Executive Board.

The Variety Sunshine Coach program is designed to provide transport assistance to organisations that cater for children with a disability, regional or social disadvantage, to enable them to access the community and to experience a range of special programs and activities.

Blind Sports NSW today received delivery of the bus and has arranged for a number of selected individuals from the Blind Sports NSW community to obtain the relevant driver's licence in upcoming weeks. Blind Sports NSW is excited to offer transport services for our affiliate member sports and individual members to break down barriers and provide greater access to events.

A special thank you to Variety - the Children's Charity NSW/ACT for supporting our application and providing opportunities like this to increase ongoing participation for members of the blind and vision impaired community.

Blind Sports NSW will be working closely with affiliate sports in the near future to discuss event dates and bus requests for later this year (depending on advice/recommendations from NSW Health regarding COVID-19).
